Edgar Allan Poe (Boston January 19, 1809 – Baltimore October 7, 1849)
Annabel Lee
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.
In a kingdom by the sea,

Lee Annácska
Sok-sok hosszú esztendeje már
tengerpart bús mezején
élt egy kis lány – ismerhetitek
Lee Annácska nevén
s csak azzal a gondolattal élt,
hogy szeret s szeretem én.
Gyermek volt s gyermek voltam én
Lee Annácska meg én,
de szerelmünk több volt, mint szerelem
tengerpart bús mezején –
irigyeltek még az angyalok is
fenn a felhők tetején.
S ez lett oka, hogy, sok éve már,
tengerpart bús mezején
felhők közül jött egy csunya szél
s meghült Annácska, szegény;
s elvitték úri rokonai
s egyedül maradtam én:
koporsóba csukták el őt
tengerpart bús mezején.

Irigyeltek az égi angyalok,
hogy boldogabb ő meg én
az lett oka (mind jól tudjuk ezt
tengerpart bús mezején)
hogy jött felhőből éjjel a szél
s meghült s meghalt a szegény.
Annácska szemét lesem én;
s igy az éj idején veled éldelek én,
jegyesem, szivem élete, szép kicsikém,
melletted a sír fenekén,
tengerpart bús mezején.

Annabel Lee
Prije mnogo i mnogo godina,
U carstvu kraj mora to bi,
Djeva je živjela koju su zvali
Imenom Annabel Lee;
S tek jednom je živjela mišlju:
Da voli i da se volimo mi.
U carstvu kraj mora to bi,
Djeva je živjela koju su zvali
Imenom Annabel Lee;
S tek jednom je živjela mišlju:
Da voli i da se volimo mi.
Ja i Annabel Lee —
I zbog toga nebeski krilati serafi
Ja i Annabel Lee —
I zbog toga nebeski krilati serafi
Bili su zavidni.
I to je razlog što jednom davno
— U carstvu kraj mora to bi -
Vjetar se spusti iz oblaka, noću,
Sledivši moju Annabel Lee.
I došli su plameniti rodjaci njeni,
Meni je oteli,
Da je zatvore u grobnicu tamnu
U tom carstvu što kraj mora bi.
— U carstvu kraj mora to bi -
Vjetar se spusti iz oblaka, noću,
Sledivši moju Annabel Lee.
I došli su plameniti rodjaci njeni,
Meni je oteli,
Da je zatvore u grobnicu tamnu
U tom carstvu što kraj mora bi.
Zavidjeli su nam andjeli s neba,
— Ni upola sretni ko mi —
Da! To je razlog (kao što znaju
U tom carstvu kraj mora svi),
Što noću je vjetar iz oblaka došo
I sledio, ubio Annabel Lee.

Da! To je razlog (kao što znaju
U tom carstvu kraj mora svi),
Što noću je vjetar iz oblaka došo
I sledio, ubio Annabel Lee.
I mudriji mnogo neg mi —
I niti andjeli, gore na nebu,
Ni podmorski demoni zli
Ne mogu mi razdvojiti dušu od duše
Lijepe Annabel Lee.
Što stariji bili neg mi —
I mudriji mnogo neg mi —
I niti andjeli, gore na nebu,
Ni podmorski demoni zli
Ne mogu mi razdvojiti dušu od duše
Lijepe Annabel Lee.
O lijepoj Annabel Lee;
Kada zvijezde se stvore, vidim kako gore
Tek oči Annabel Lee.
Tako ležim pored svoje drage do zore
Svoj drage, — drage, — života i mlade,
U njezinoj grobnici uz more
U njenom grobu uz sumorno more.
